Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp (37g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp (12g) baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1.25 cups (300ml) milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp (42g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Note: Whisking removes large flour clumps.
  2. Combine the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla in a smaller bowl. Whisk until the egg is fully incorporated.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
  4. Stir gently with a spoon just until the flour streaks disappear. Stop while there are still small lumps to ensure homemade pancakes from scratch stay fluffy.
  5. Heat your skillet over medium heat and grease it with a small pat of butter.
  6. Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake.
  7. Watch for bubbles to form on the surface. Flip when the edges look set and matte.
  8. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the other side is golden brown.
