Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 lb ground turkey breast
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely grated
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef, turkey, panko, milk, grated onion, egg, and spices. Mix until just combined and roll the mixture into small, 1-inch spheres.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs for 2-3 minutes per side until they develop a mahogany-colored crust. Remove meatballs from the pan and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Melt the butter in the same pan, scraping up the brown bits. Whisk in the cornstarch for 1 minute, then slowly pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Return the meatballs to the skillet, stir in the Greek yogurt, and simmer in the sauce until cooked through and glazed.
